General information

Hi and welcome to Passport Photo RVA, part of Henrico Photo.

Richmond's most trusted passport, VISA and ID photographer. Known by many satisfied customers for their international passport photo needs. I am one of the recommended Dutch passport photographers for the Royal Dutch Embassy in Washington DC.

Why choose Henrico Photo for your passport photos?

Hi, I am Erin Paula van Beveren, owner and photographer at Henrico photo since 2008. I am certified in professional photography trough the New York Institute of Photography and certified in passport photography trough the Dutch "Stichting Nederlandse Fotovakhandel" (Dutch Foundation of Photography Professionals). I am certified with the Dutch photomatrix 2007 specifications, and familiar with the current 2020 updated specifications.

I take my passport photography business very seriously. Some other passport photography outlets might have staff without proper training and are not too familiar with the various specifications that differ per country, and use poor lighting or equipment, which results in poor quality prints, that will be rejected. My photos are guaranteed to be in compliance with ICAO and government regulations.

And remember: If another outlets cannot get your passport photo made to the correct specification, Henrico Photo sure can, no matter what. Guaranteed.

I have been creating professional passport photos since 2008, and have the equipment, skills and experience to get the right exposure, color, contrast and dimensions, with no shadows or highlights, which are some of the requirements for a passing passport photo. You can count on me for the highest quality photos and prints.

As an additional option to the printed passport photo, I am also able to provide you with a digital photo, as required for the US DV lottery, UK, Olympic athlete ID and for some other countries requirements. (I cannot upload digital photos directly to the agency, you will receive the digital photo by email (UK) or uploaded to your own USB memory stick)

You will receive your passport photos at the same time as you have your picture taken. Only one appointment is needed, no need to come back a few days later to pick up your prints. Your passport photos are ready and immediately printed in house, while you wait.

Passport photo computer setup:

Some technical information about passport photos.

I have a dedicated and calibrated studio/computer/software system with products from Canon, HP, HiTi and working with specialized European passport and ID software: IDphotoPRO.

The background will be confirm the specifications and will be white, light gray or blue as needed or required by each country’s unique government requirement.

The photos are printed on a dedicated passport photo printer with true 400 dpi prints. I use professional European software for my passport, visa and other ID photos, with currently over 280 ID formats and up-to-date specifications of 87 countries, with the biometrics that automatically verifies that your photos meet all the requirements. At Henrico Photo I provide you with passport, VISA and other ID photos that are confirm the required specifications, including US, Canadian and European passports photos, Canadian permanent resident, citizenship and VISA photos, European VISA photos and most other foreign nationality photos for passports, VISA's, and ID cards.

In compliance with ICAO’s (International Civil Aviation Organization), recommended practices, some 100 countries, including the United States and Canada, are issuing electronic passports or ePassports. In a world where security needs are constantly changing, countries all over the world look to ICAO for trustworthy advice. As technology evolves, ICAO's standards and document specifications will continue to influence the passport's development on a global scale. If you would like to learn more about ICAO and passports, please visit ICAO's website.

Download the pdf file of the MRTD Report here.

The MRTD report focuses on two subjects relating to the ICAO Biometric Blueprint: the use of the face as the primary biometric for interoperability of ePassports, and the launch of the ICAO Public Key Directory (PKD) as the main global distribution point for all signing certificates from all issuers of ePassports.

Why can't I smile in my passport photo?

The International Civil Aviation Organization recommends that passport photos be taken with a neutral expression for use with facial recognition systems - advanced technology that helps prevent fraud by electronically verifying identity based on each person's unique facial features.

PLEASE NOTE: Henrico Photo does not accept passport applications and does not issue passports.

In the small event that your photos are rejected due to my photography, I will adjust or retake and print new photos free of charge.
